Required information about data protection
Protecting your personal data is our top priority. The data protection notice below provides you with a detailed overview on the processing of your personal data by Mercedes-Benz Group AG. "Personal data" means all information that relates to a natural person who has been or can be identified. This data protection notice explains the type, scope and purposes of collecting personal data at Mercedes-Benz Group AG and how we handle this data. We would also like to inform you about the rights to which you are entitled as they relate to the processing of your personal data.

To whom does this data protection notice apply?
This notice applies to everyone who receives press materials (such as press releases, press kits, press photos, press specimen copies, press invitations) from Mercedes-Benz Group AG and its subsidiaries, such as journalists. -
Where does my data come from and what data is processed?
We received the data stored by us either directly from you, by searching the websites of your medium/publisher, from publicly accessible journalist databases, or it was entered by the Mercedes-Benz Group employee in consultation with you or with a person you assigned in our database of motor sports journalists.
We process the following personal data:
- Name and title (gender, title, last name, first name)
- Contact information (such as company, medium, division, position, street, house number, P.O. Box, telephone, mobile phone, e-mail address, fax number)
- Language
- Various codes that allow us to correctly identify the medium you work for (such as business, technology, classics, motorsports) and ensure correct routing (such as e-mail, fax, mail, text message)
- Event information (participant lists showing whether you accepted or rejected our invitations to motorsports events)
As part of invitation management, your name will be digitally matched to your response. -
What is my data used for (purpose of processing) and on what basis (legal basis) does this take place?
Personal data is processed for performing press work for motorsports communications and for organizing motorsports press events by the Mercedes-Benz Group. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR. The legitimate interest of the company lies in providing you with specific information about our motorsports activities, our brands and products, and to arrange and conduct press work. In addition, we are subject to legal requirements on the basis of which we process the before-mentioned personal data. These requirements may result e.g. from tax laws or accounting provisions. The legal basis under data protection laws is Art. 6 (1) c) GDPR. -
How long will my data be stored?
The data is stored by us as long as you hold your stated position and we have not been notified about any change in position. You can opt out of our motorsports journalist database at any time by clicking on the "Unsubscribe" link at the end of each e-mail. We will then immediately delete your data. Of course, you can request that we delete your data at any time, in which case you will also be removed from our press materials mailing lists.
We store participant lists for as long as evidence and retention requirements require it, which is set forth in the German Commercial Code and Fiscal Code, among other places. For these purposes, we are required to store your data for accounting and tax processing for ten years. -
Will my data be shared?
Your data will be shared within Mercedes-Benz Group AG with select subsidiaries in the motorsports segment (such as Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Limited, under the name of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport). In these cases, your data will be shared only for conducting motorsports press work.
For the purposes of sending press materials, your data will be shared with external providers who were hired by Mercedes-Benz Group AG to handle the mailing process. The data is shared in compliance with the confidentiality obligations and the requirements of the GDPR. The providers cannot use the data for their own purposes, and are required to meet the Group's standards. Mercedes-Benz Group AG remains the data controller for data processing purposes. -
Will my data be sent to a third country or an international organization?
Data will not be transferred to countries outside the EU or EEA ("third countries") unless we are required to do so by official order or court order. -
What rights do you have as a data subject?
As a data subject, you can assert the following rights:
- Article 15 GDPR: Right of access to the data stored by us.
- Article 16 GDPR: Right to have false data corrected (right to rectification).
- Article 17 GDPR: Right to have your data erased if there is no legal basis for further storage.
- Article 18 GDPR: Right to demand a restriction of processing for your data. This means that your data will still be saved but may only be processed with certain restrictions (e.g. with your consent or for the assertion of legal claims).
- Article 20 GDPR: Right to data portability with respect to all data that you have provided to us. This means that we have to provide you with this data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
- Article 21 GDPR: Right to object to data processing if there are special reasons pertaining to your situation that would contraindicate data processing.
